The best way to remove any spot or spill:
First, remove the spot as quickly as possible. But here’s what important that can save money in replacing carpet and big headaches…
first use a wet type vacuum that can work to extract all the moisture in the spill or spot before you use any of cleaner.
A small carpet cleaning machine will work , but remember to use a vacuum that can handle moisture. When most of the spill or spot is removed, use a safe detergent and gently blot with a clean towel. If any of the detergent remains wet area with generous amount of tap water and extract with your wet vacuum
This method will work on any spill. Remember to test the fiber before using any spot cleaner or water. Some types of rugs can be damaged by water.
Best chance for removal:
- Remove asap. The longer you wait, the less chance of removing the stain.If you cannot remove the stain, call a quality carpet cleaner right away.
- Use a neutral ph cleaner.
- Use as little moisture as possible with fine natural fabrics For these, apply a cleaner to a cloth and gently dab the spot.
Some area rugs have unstable dye and can be damaged. Always test before attempting spot removal.
Most spots: Use 1/4 teaspoon dishwashing soap with 1 cup water and follow the directions above. Avoid high residue spotters like Resolve.
Grease or Oils: For greasy spots, apply rubbing alcohol to a cloth and gently blot. Do not pour directly on your carpet.
